Front Covers

I have been lucky enough to shoot the front covers for the week one and week two editions of ThreeWeeks so I thought I would put up the original shots alongside the covers and then link through to the PDF’s for each edition. Simple really.

So I may be a little predisposed to shooting (or at least converting) my shots to black and white, but I really don’t think that it is my fault that the Jazz Festival looks better in black and white…

Simon Nabatov and Nils Wogram

I got the opportunity on Saturday to shoot Simon Nabatov and Nils Wogram during their pre-show warm-up.

I really enjoy the flexibility of shooting when there is no audience – not worry about getting in anyone’s way etc. – although I do worry that some part of the atmosphere is lost as a result.

Steve Kettley’s Odd Times and Paul Towndrow Quartet

These are my first shots from the Edinburgh Jazz Festival and I’m happy. Apart from anything else this signals the start of all the festivals that make up the Edinburgh Festival (there is really no such thing as the Edinburgh Festival it is many, many festivals that all occur at about the same time) and a near unlimited source of events/concerts/shows to photograph.

The many festivals that occur in Edinburgh over August are about to start up again and I will be using this blog to show off my favourite images that I take as photographer for Threeweeks. The shot above was taken on the meadows during last years festival, although this year I intend to avoid the royal mile / meadows in favour of shooting shows/concerts/events.

Tomorrow the Edinburgh Jazz Festival begins and so will my festival photography.
